From software to practice: a closer look at Stedin

Together with Vere, Manfred is working at Outbirds on a Welding App for our client Stedin.

The app supports welders in registering and documenting their work and includes built-in quality checks. Ultimately, each weld results in an archivable record as proof of the work performed. The app also monitors and records certifications and inspections.

To gain a better understanding of what the work involves in practice, they had the opportunity to join a Stedin welding inspector on the job. They saw a welder perform two different test welds and had the chance to ask questions about the process and the work involved.

Seeing firsthand how the work is carried out in practice gives us a much better understanding of the processes our software supports. Terms and concepts from the project suddenly became much more meaningful. It also gives us a clearer picture of which information and actions are important in practice for the people who will be working with the solution.

We take this knowledge into the further development of the Welding App. By bringing practice and technology together, we can develop solutions that not only work from a technical perspective, but also fit seamlessly into people’s day-to-day work!
